DL'd MXM's - Missing Links

Noobie question for you: I've just started to download MXM's from the gallery and am running into some problems with some of them. For example, Carbonized Bamboo Flooring - http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/ran ... e=0&id=153

When I open up the MXM it can't find one of the textures, Bamboo_Flooring_6x12.tif, but that file isn't even included in the zip. But it looks like it's actually mapping all of the textures correctly anyway. How can I find out what files the MXM needs and how they're mapped? Help.

Eric

That mxm is just referencing a texture that wasn't included (or has been renamed). Nothing you can do about that. Sometimes people just don't get their materials packed properly before uploading...

So then is there any way of knowing where in the material the texture was being used? When I choose not to find a replacement, it seems like any references to the missing texture disappear from the material.

Wait, now that I think about it, you can create a dummy texture, name it the same as the missing texture, put it in the material's folder, and re-open the mxm.

It may have been a texture that was used in the MXM but not anymore, but the reference to it still exists in the MXM so even if create a dummy one, you won't know where it was used before, because it has been replaced by another texture, or simply not used. To get rid of that pop up, click the save & close button and reopen the MXM. If a texture that is actually being used is not found you will see it by the texture chip (it will show a question mark, or a cross....I forget which one).
