What's the best method for a realistic (translucent) clip mapped leaf material?
my problem is that the backside is almost black and the tre looks to dark and unrealistic :(

Thank You! :D
but i can't get it to work that good... the backside stays dark. :?

Could you share your material settings? I don't know what i'm doing wrong.
I added a new layer with a transparency map (green), but what should be the settings for attenuation and nd?

Thank You Kurt! :D Your settings are nearly identical to mine. so it seems not possible to achieve a translucent material without thickness. the problem is that the backside becomes very transparent imediately with a attenuation setting of 2.0 or above. the frontside looks ok and it looks like there is light passing through the face. but the backside is messed up completely...

attenuation 1.999

attenuation 2.0

so i think i have to make them opaque and reactivate fry for the next nature renders... :?

btw: http://www.directupload.net works great for picture uploads! 8)

yes, the method is very limited, and under the lighting contitions in your test scene this is very hard to achieve. You can of course cheat with some extra light to avoid the very dark areas... but a physical correct scene in Maxwell requiers physically correct leaves - with thickness.
Will there be a Maxwell Render 6 ?
