Thanks Kurt, btw i'm not trying to compete with you at all.
One more for tonight before i'm off to bed.. this is a leather material test with displacement. It could probably be used for closeup shots or something..

Didn't we already cover this months ago. It's not a competition. We like seeing your materials so keep posting them and stop worrying.

That's true JC, i'll try to stop worrying. But i had to clarify i'm not trying to compete with Kurt even if i could.
I'm trying to recreate a nice soft looking sculpey clay material for Maxwell, one which i can use to render my Zbrush sculpts with. This first one will be for white clay, when that's done i'll do other colors such as pink, green, grey, red and others..

Looking good Max. The lead is awesome, the leather might be just a bit too bumpy/displaced, but from a bit of a distance that can be good. Up close it might look odd.
Just my opinion though.

love the lead Max but I'm with Brett on the leather

Thanks guys and yep i agree that the leather looks odd, it has 'flakes' that displaces way to high to look realistic. I could tune them down a bit and rerender it again. That should fix it

you people got eagleeyes hehe, you see everything, it's impossible to get away with any imperfections here

but i like it.

Thanks Bubba
I made two new colored versions of the white sculpey clay i posted above, unfortuntely it wasn't as easy as just changing the color as i hoped

i had to pretty much rebuild it from scratch each time, perhaps i did something wrong.. wouldn't be the first time. Anyways here's a red which should work fine for all those Hellboy sculpts and one brown version which works for standard clay stuff..
They may appear flat'ish but the sss is there, i promise!
Red sculpey clay
Green sculpey clay
Brown sculpey clay

Clay is cool too.. ! try to mix a bsdf with the sss.. for a more.. "it was touched" feel..

Bubba, that's the idea. I'm setting up a few basic colorvariations of the clay and then rar pack them together and share them here for everyone to play with. They will be very basic materials without any maps.
Hervé: Thanks, nope the leather sucks ass i know that. And i have blended in a standard bsdf layer with the sss but not by much. I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "it was touched" feel, if that means it needs some textures with fingerprints, dents and bumps on it then no i won't add those details. These materials will all be very basic with no textures at all. Sorry!
Blue..

(no I was not talking about fingerprints.. hehe)
