If anyone would be interested i have a idea for a forum only mxm challenge, it's quite simple but it requires some from you as a artist to not only produce great looking mxm's but also make use of them on the simplest of meshes, primitives within your 3d application.

The idea is that we can have specific materials such as cloth, gems, plastic, rubber, stone, marble or whatever else else we wanna get better at creating in these mini-challenges. But these does not only require you to produce highclass mxm's but also renderings using only basic 3d primitives on which you map your mxm's. The better and more artistic and creative job you can do with your materials and primitives the bigger your chance is to win! from each challenge we vote on 3 winners, and the winner in each challenge gets to decide the theme for the next challenge.

What do you guys think about this ? would it be interesting ? or have you got any better suggestions and ideas than this one ?

I got no fancy prizes to hand out to the winners but maybe NL can chip in and hand out tshirts or something else simple to the winners.

nice idea, if I've understood it correctly.
would be a good exercise for yourself + a good way to look at the approach of somebody else. I just hope I'll find the time to participate ...

My description was pretty poor, and after thinking about it some more it's starting to look like a really bad idea i'm putting this idea in the trashbin for now. If someone else wanna use it then be my guest.

I think it's a good idea, but I'm not sure that it's necessary to have any voting, winners or competition at all. Maybe it could be more open and informal?

I will not be hard to find interesting challenges.There are so many materials that I would like to try to make some day... like these sample photos:

I understood it a little similar to the idea spoken of in the "water fountain thread" ... it doesn't have to be a competition but more like a challenge
