Is there a maximum for map sizes?

I've got a material where when it renders the scale is off and the material cannot be tiled. I'm trying to rework the maps to a larger size. Is there a maximum size? Original maps are jpeg -- does that have any impact on how they will work?

Thanks,

There's probably a maximum resolution Maxwell supports, but i been able to push texture resolutions up to 16,384x16,384 pixels which is pretty high. :) i'm sure it can go even higher than that but i haven't tested that (yet).

What's the resolution of your maps you got problems with ?

I've asked that question before, but I never got an answer. I think it just comes down to "how large does your texture need to be?". If you have a 16,000x16,000 map that is taking up about 500 pixels in your final render, it's kind of a waste of ram, don't you think?

I'm getting a loading problem on 3,000 x 3,000, with a smaller size at 1,500 x 1,500 it doesn't happen.

I have used 4096x4096 on several occasions.

1500x1500 is quite enough i think.
