Can someone clarify which material scene to use for creation of new materials and where it can be found?

The one that's supposed to be used if you upload a material to the mxm gallery site, it's downloadable from there. You can also create your own preview scenes. It's explained in the manual.

Hi...should have been more clear...tried to download the scene from the directions posted in the mxm gallery but when I click on the link, the URL doesn't work...

Is there another place where I can find it?

It's also in Maxwell Studio, check in Library, Scenes, Simball, and there you got it.

don't remember if it's in the manual, but change nothing but the mxm itself
The camera, lights, in fact the entire scene is calibrated
