Hey everyone. I'm going to be needing to produce a lumicor panel...the one seen here...
http://www.lumicor.com/_arch/details.php?id=26

Its basically wooden strips inside a transparent panel. I'm wondering if I can get away using a material, or if I have to hand model it. My question for the material is the maps, I can't have a map the actual size of the door, but is there a way to create a tilable map that will create the result i need? Thanks.

We did a conference room for a law firm here that used the exact same panels. I luckily didn't have to do that part of the rendering in the end, but how to make them was on the back of my mind while I was working on it.

Go to the MXMGallery, Search for NicoR44 and look at his Stripes material. When I was doing mine I was thinking it would be a good starting spot, but I never got around to actually making it. Good luck.

I would use a stripe weightmap for the wood texture, then invert it for the translucent stripes.

I might even run a test of a translucent material applid to an object with strips of wood modelled inside it.

just an idea < :
