Just curious if anybody has tried to recreate bubble wrap? Seems like it would be a pretty challenging material
Me mite give it ago!

Yip a challenge it will be!

Specially with the bump map "problems" and no displacement I think i could get the plastic effect right but not the extruding bubbles

I've seen that one too Kurt and been thinking about reproducing the material using Filter Forge's textures. But as we haven't got displacement and more it won't look very nice.
[Edit] : I generated the bubblewrap materials textures at 2048x2048 jpeg's if anyone else wanna give it a shot, you can grab the textures from the link below.

Anytime Tea Bag

and your result looks fine! it kinda looks like popped bubblewrap when the bubbles are flat

especially the 2nd rendering below is sweet.
Did you upload this one to the MXM site ? or perhaps after some final tweaking you could upload it

great material test, but I agree with Max, it's no fun whan all the bubbles are flat!

Other than lack of displacement which we don't have yet, the bubbles should be closer each other. Very nice emulation anyway

Thanks Tom, Ive changed the mapping to bring the bubbles closer - Me cant wait for displacement the possibilities will be endless!
