ANNIVERSARY SALE!
We wanted to do something special this month, something that would give you more time to explore Maxwell Render 1.5.
And what better way to enjoy Maxwell Render than to have a 1550x1 bargain!
Boost your MXM library by simply uploading a single valid material to the MXM Gallery, and you will receive an email with a link to download 1500 existing materials at once.
The 1550x1 bargain will last for a week only, and it starts today 13th June 2007, the day that James Clerk Maxwell was born! The offer ends 20th of June 2007.
So don't let this opportunity pass you by!
Please note that you'll need a download manager as the file is 2,50 Gb. We suggest: FDM Free Download Manager (for Windows users).

This seems like it will pollute the gallery with a lot of rubbish materials uploaded by people who just want to get the download. I think it's a mistake to presume that there's any connection between people who would like to
use materials and those with the inclination and skill to
produce materials worthy of inclusion in the the gallery.
Why not just make the download available to all licensed Maxwell users?

I agree with GavinScott...
More on a personal level, but valid none the less, is the fact that many Lightwave users, myself included, cannot contribute because the currant Lightwave plugin is not working and Maxwell is dead in the water for us. To get to take part in this I have to re-load V 1.1, the old plugin, yada yada....
Enough with these "special offers", just let the licensed users download the lot.
Cheers, RonB

I agree aswell. There is a risk that a lot of so-and-so-quality materials will be uploaded just for the sake of it, but perhaps it will also trigger and inspire people to create materials. Don't know.
All I know is I can't see the reason to download the entire collection of materials while the best (still not good) way of browsing the lot is through the website?

I want to have all materials on my hard drive, but I still use the web gallery for searching/browsing materials. This way I do not need to login, download, unpack and sort files every time I'll use or test a material. The Ideal solution would be to have axcess to this kind of visual interface within maxwell.
The main problem IMO is that the materials often have different names in the web gallery and the locally stored mxm-file.

Just a quick note, if you see your material uploaded in the gallery and you haven't receive the email with the download link:
1.Check your junk mail
2. Email us with a link to your uploaded material:

Very nice offer, thanks a bunch for this one
Just one major problem with it, i cannot upload any materials because the server lags so much it times out everytime i try

..probably so many downloading that huge file it makes it impossible for the rest of us with slow connections to upload any new materials to the MXM site.
Please use torrents instead to let users download/upload the file like that, it won't kill the MXM site server and connection as it does now.

Hi Maximus,
we're uploading things to the server (some parts of this huge pack) so that's the delay.
I think it will be solved for tomorrow, we have a bit of a bottle neck today.
Anyway, don't worry because you have plenty of time to upload a material in 10 days. The download period won't last for 10 days, it will be longer.
Of course if we feel we have to make the offer to last for a couple of days more to be fair to users because of this bottle neck mentioned above, we'll do it.

Ahh so that's why the server is choking, phew! thanks Beatriz for your quick reply.
Then i got time to whip up some more and better looking materials until the serverload been reduced.
Cheers!

I said 10 days, and I've realized it's 7 days. Sorry.
