yep, found it but I'm so unused to the MW Studio that I was hoping for some MXMs that I could apply in C4D...
How do I extract the mats from the mxs?
TIA

A fairly unknown feature ......
First open the mxs with Studio....
Now edit ANY material within the Studio environment( it doesn't matter which one, ..as you will see), ....right click to get the options, ..... scroll down to [export material(s)] (notice the plural part) ..... find a folder you want to drop them in, .....or create one. .....done, .....all the materials within the scene are extracted, including maps (..the maps should be locally pathed as well, ...I think).

if these shades don't have to be really transparent, try .mxi emitters...
saves You hell of time !

I have been trying to figure out how to make a glowing lamp shade as well and saw the tutorial mentioned above.
My question is how do I make my own mxi file? no body talks about this.

... you just have to know where to look ...
open mxcl -d and load a picture (hdr or even jpg), adjust intensity and save it as a mxi.

Ah. Great!
Thanks for the tip.
I'm new to maxwell so I'm still fumbling around a bit.
