Hello Tyrone!
This is a tricky one you are offering, for sure. I have never seen a convincing natural sponge material by itself, it always need some tweaking regarding to the kind of object you apply it on. Most of the time, too, a bump effect or displacement is pretty useful for that kind of material.
For me, the one you show don't do the trick yet ; there's something that doesn't match with the sponge effect ; or maybe it's still too close to stone or something to be immediately identified as a sponge material. Starting with a synthetic sponge could be a first step before this tricky one, no??

Well, It is very tough to judge such a material with the standard preview scene. A natural sponge is (at least the ones that I came in contact with) a very 3-dimensional object, which then needs a very complex material. Maybe the material website should allow for a secondary preview (the standard scene should be mandatory nevertheless) that can be chosen freely to point out the use of special materials, like liquids, sponges, walls and so on.
Apart from that : I wouldn´t want to miss all this olive oil, red wine and natural sponge materials in the library, because I think this sets the maxwell materials apart from all the other stuff out there.....

Thanks for the comments, as they are very much appreciated. For the time being, I have removed the material. I'll see if I can make a better one in lieu of displacement mapping.
