Hi all.
We are taking care and analizing your opinions and suggestions to make improvements for the MXM Gallery site.
It's nice to know that the publishing of the site has turned into a big hit during its first week online.

Thank you all for your crits.
Of course, now it's time to fix what is wrong or improve what's not as good as we first thought. So, please, stay online and I hope you'll see nice improvements in the coming days.
Cheers,

i think it is very good, the only problems is that some users did upload materials with missing texturemaps!
maybe NL can send out a mail to all to remind the users to "repair" their materials.
if a commercial texture is used, it would help at least to state the product and the exact file name thta is needed. like for the arroway textures.
thanks
cheers

I would like to see an option for downloading all uploaded materials of one day in one file. That would save time.
Thanks for the side.

It should be reorganized into categories instead of by date, which should make it much easier to find specific materials.
It would also be nice to have some way of using the materials without having to re-path all the textures sot of like a self contained file that has all the information and doesn’t have to rely on external map references but that's probably imposable.

MXM Gallery stats:
number of materials total, and by category, total number of users, total number of uploads and downloads.
Possibility for owner to delete a material.
Database for material comments per material.

Yes a better description of the material would be very helpful, and I would suggest that everything should be in English. There are so many countries represented here and having materials with names that aren't in a common language makes it difficult to know what they are.

I agree, it should and it has to be kept in only english. If it's in 15 different languages then it's just gonna be a complete total mess in no time at all.
Also as the others said, materials that use textures should always include textures or else they serve no purpose at all for those that download them.

Can the materials be categorized by Technical name. For example:
For plastics:
Polypropylene
Polyethylene
Polycarbonate
Nylon
Glass Filled Nylon
ABS
Glass filled ABS
Polyvinyl Chloride
Styrene
Polyurethane
Acrylic
Phenolic
Etc..
I realize we already have some of these. Organizing them by technical name and adding more would be great. A good reference source is the Modern Plastics Encylclopedia.

I suggest implementing a TAG system for sorting out the materials... this way each material can have more then one tag and easy to find

this has been mentioned before but I'm adding a little bit.
It would be really nice if we could have a thumbnail preview that each thumb nail could have a checkbox and you simply check the materials you need and have a button to zipup and download...
There are a few ZIP libraries for PHP and many examples on the web. It is very simple to implement such a thing and and we have hundreds of materials it would be a snap to grab all that you want for a specific project.
