I noticed that few people are having problems with the new materials that you download from the new website. Many materials have texture location of the persons custom path on their computers and when you download these materials each user has to set the texture path to their own location but even after you place all the texture in the texture folder I still get a black render.

Please help.

Do i have to recreate the mxm material or is there a easier way of going about this problem.

Also, this problem get even worst in MAYA 7 when you try to render out and it can not find the texture. HELP

THanks in advance.

same problem here...

no map found, even withg texture folder in the path customisation of 3dsMAX...

even after editing the mxm file, point to the right texture file, saved, reassigned...

no way

Which material renders black for you?

not really black, but map-less...

for ex, i've tried the old wine bottle and fiberglass red...

the green old glass bottle gives me black (no reflaction it seams... or maybe scene size too big to get light penetration), but no bump at all

the red fiberglass is perfectly smooth, no scratchs...

and when i render from 3dsMAX, it tells me that some maps are missing...
not the MAX default missing-maps popup, but a maxwell one

Did you resave the material after you specified the new paths? It has to be an issue with texture paths...

A simple thing you can do: Load the material in Studio (rightclick in material list panel>Import mxm), Studio will let you know some maps are missing and show a folder view where you can navigate to the folder where the maps are. It will then continue to look in that folder for all other maps, so no need to specify this folder for all the other maps. Once that's done, just resave the material, perhaps with another name so there's no confusion.

ok i'll try that way...

i must confess i do not use studio..; i prefer rendering from within max...
