Here's the RAL classic V2 "Velvet" material library -- based somewhat on the wizard but I made some changes to have it have it's own flavor.

I still need feedback on my car paint library... if you are downloading these please leave feedback as I put a ton of time into these and I'd like to know if they are working for you.

Best,
Jason.

Half Life, thank you for this work. It is very appreciated.
I have a question about the choice of colors.
As you can see on this link, I took the velvet 6004. I measured values and found that it was not 100% the same as the conversion RAL > Hex.

Have you made a perceptual conversion?

To answer your question here's a bit of explaining and a new library:

This is the diffuse library -- pretty simple materials but this gives me a chance to talk about the colors. I was very concerned about the accuracy of these colors since several sources do not agree on the specific numbers and the whole point of having a color standard is reliable color communcation with your clients. Therefor I obtained spectral measurements from online for the RAL classic color set, so these are the most accurate I could make the colors in Maxwell short of taking the measurements myself.

So the short answer is the hex values you are looking at are questionable IMO because RAL is an inherently spectral color specification and not an RGB specification... most of the RGB values I found describe the color "idea" more than the actual real world color chip.

Best,
Jason.

Thank you Jason. It's always bad to think that PMS/RAL value are correct on computer. I always work with a color palette (PMS) as reference.

It's a big work you delivered to us.
Thanks!

You are very welcome, I'm happy you like them.

This is a small set of missing colors from the orginal versions of these libraries in glass, car paint, and velvet... I decided to just add them into each library after this.

2 new libraries to download:

This is the updated RAL V2 "painted wall" library -- I replaced the old bump map with a normal map for a cleaner and more subtle texture.

This is the RAL V2 Satin library -- again I based this on the wizard material but made changes to suit my purposes.

This is not part of the regular libraries but I had spectral measurements for all the specialty colors as well -- luminous, pearl, etc.

The only one that is questionable is #1026 -- I had no official measurement on that one... roughness parameters are yours to set at your desire.

I just dropped this into my diffuse library but you may want it someplace special.

Half Life wrote:Now for something different.

For those who have the full-rez Arroway "Textures - Edition 1" set or who are going to get it, I have created a full line of Maxwell materials for the Texture Pack taking full advantage of Maxwell 2 material system and incorporating the scaling and tiling specs from Arroway.

For those who have never experienced how good the Arroway textures really are I highly recommend the texture pack as it is extemely cost effective and will be a real eye opener... and the "sample" Arroway textures that ship with Maxwell are not full-rez.

In order to use this set simply drop the full-rez textures in the appropriate folders and enjoy:

You can purchase the full-rez textures here:

Can we have a new link?

I'll come back to Arroway when I get some money to purchase some new textures (I have my eye on their wood grains next) -- in the meantime I want to conserve bandwidth for people to download all the RAL libraries I've got.

This is the revised RAL V2 tile set -- set to real world scale matching floor tiles in my bathroom... and includes a map and example of a checkerboard layout where you can mix and match any colors you like. Please replace any previous version of mine you already have with this:

This is probably my favorite material in the RAL set I have created simply because it was so difficult to get right -- it's a brand new metal material based on my observations of several objects with anodized aluminum finishes.

As always, colors with high brightness and/or saturation will "blow out" but there are a bunch of really outstanding colors in this library:

This a the new V2 "Shiny Plastic" -- I used some "Hard Shell" type plastic in the studio as reference. This is the type of plastic that shows anything that gets on it very easily... so a good application of this might be to have another layer on top with fingerprints, specks of dust, etc.

And here's the last -- for a total of over 2000 materials in the V2 RAL collection.

This is a the V2 RAL SSS Plastic library -- for this line I decided to use SSS and I based the look on a semi-soft plastic used in my cars interior. The oranges in particular did not turn out well but most other colors look very nice and the lower saturation colors are really fast clearing and look great.

This is the V2 RAL Glossy Metallic Plastic library -- for this line I used a wacom mouse I have as reference. The end result is a material that has a slight bump to it and looks more plastic than metallic for many colors... if you want a bit more metallic effect just reduce the roughness slightly.

Feedback and renders are always appreciated.

Best,
Jason.
