This is something i wanted to test for a long time but never got around to do it until now, so here's my test on a simple candleholder model. I painted a dirtmap in Modo on my UV mapped model, exported the model as obj and imported it into C4D with RipTide. Then moved the texturemap from Modo to C4D, added it into my testmaterials and also slapped on a Hypernurbs object on my lowpoly model in C4D, set it to Catmull-Clark and Boundary subdivision to avoid stretching of the UV map on the object. It worked great! :D me so happy

Anyways, here's some pics..

And the final rendering! :) using hdr and 4,5 hours to render

Conclusion: I'm satisfied with the test, it worked exactly as i wanted it to. Although there were some initial issues but those can be blamed on my stupid mistakes and not anything else.

Btw, i just setup a quickly made gallery with some of my creations. Nothing fancy or pretty but it's there until i have something better to show and a prettier website.

Looks fantastic Max. You're turning out to be quite the modeler and texturer.

Care to give me some lessons in modeling with Modo? ;)

Hehe JC, funny guy :) you know i spent 14 days, day and night to model this thing :D it's horribly difficult to build..

Lessons, oh sure i'll be releasing a 4-pack dvd set with tutorials covering the sophisticated and complex modeling and detailed work that went into this candleholder thingy hehe. They'll be out next month at Gnomon's shop..

JC: True, but finishing the knife project took me way longer than expected due to some unforseen issues along the way. I'm gonna resume work on it soon tho.

Kurt: Thanks! :) i thought most people used this workflow for these types of things, maybe they don't.. it would actually work very well for stuff like those keys, hm.. good idea and nice pic

Ah yes, i already saw these on metoric.de, the no.1 source for previews of Max's works. Nice work max, it's a little bright for my tastes, but your focus was on testing the workflow of course.

Love your gallery! Didn't know those were all yours (i remember them).

Look at "call for testers" - who was the very first to answer in this topic?

For some mysterious reason Max is still not invited to be a beta-tester. I don't get it...
