This is something i wanted to test for a long time but never got around to do it until now, so here's my test on a simple candleholder model. I painted a dirtmap in Modo on my UV mapped model, exported the model as obj and imported it into C4D with RipTide. Then moved the texturemap from Modo to C4D, added it into my testmaterials and also slapped on a Hypernurbs object on my lowpoly model in C4D, set it to Catmull-Clark and Boundary subdivision to avoid stretching of the UV map on the object. It worked great!
me so happy
Anyways, here's some pics..
Modo dirtmap i painted on the mesh

The unwrapped mesh with it's texture (click on the thumbnail)

And the final rendering!
using hdr and 4,5 hours to render

Conclusion: I'm satisfied with the test, it worked exactly as i wanted it to. Although there were some initial issues but those can be blamed on my stupid mistakes and not anything else.
Btw, i just setup a quickly made gallery with some of my creations. Nothing fancy or pretty but it's there until i have something better to show and a prettier website.
