hi there
sorry for all my questions, I'm trying to contribute something to the march
mxm competition and it's my first time I really get to use the material editor... My question at the moment is if it is not possible to clip map and
use a ND higher than 1. Because as soon as I set ND higher than 1, my clip map doesn't seem to work anymore... Is this a bug or is there a reason
for this behaviour? I guess it doesn't matter so much, I could probably use ND in another material layer, but still... I'm just curious.

For some reason, the clipmapping isn't really "true," in that the areas clipped are still effected by the overall ND of the material. So, in this case you must use and ND value of 1 in order to prevent the transparent areas from refracting the light. If you want to maintain the ND value of your material, you can use the dual layer BSDF 'ghost' transparency trick. You can use the same clipmap as before.

Follow the tutorial in this thread, and you'll be able to use whatever ND you want for the opaque part of your material. Just remember to keep the ND value for the ghost layer as 1.
