interior setup

Hi, I'm working on an interior image for a (small) concert hall.
When making first images for basic lightning setup, the image clears up very slowly. At SL 12 there is a lot of noise (which might be normal?) but at SL 19 there is still noise in the render.
The walls are basic diffuse materials, there's only daglight from behind the camera and there are some emitters I need to brighten the scene. And when I add some more reflective floor and wall materials, the result looks pretty bad.
Any help with speeding up the proces or reducing the noise would be great!

It is the "sunlight through small openings into enclosed room" problem. Try simulating the sunlight with an emitter/emitters outside of the windows and turn off sunlight.

How are your emitters modelled? What is the emitter surface like? Sphere, plane? Better to use a single poly plane for the emitters.

Joris, you may find this example useful.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

Mihai: Emitters in the lamps are modelled as planes (discs), a bit smaller than the cylindrical fixtures (material: non reflective), so they don't intersect
Tom: that looks like a more interesting setup, I'll do some tryouts with that
Joris: I didn't know ...aaah!

And I read about the "sunlight through small openings into enclosed room" problem, so my new lightning setup is made without physical sky, with only emitters. I like the sunlight version best (more natural lightning), but this one is a lot faster. There's still some work to do on the materials...

Great render! I really love that brick wall :!:

Well, I think you can still render with including the physical sky. It's not unusual it takes more time to render and the noise will be gone in higher SL for sure. I mean, this was not different before to 2.01. Btw, how does the emitter geometry behind the left wall look like?
