I haven't posted anything in ages...
Early Stages of my Spitfire Model. Needs a lot of detail. I want to go mad on this one.
I have loved these planes since being a child.
Comments welcomed.

Nice start. What modeling software are you using?

Spitfire is the best plane ever. Wish I had time to make one of my own...
What kind of reference do you use?

I am using 3dsmax for this. Having just started to learn Maya, it would have been easier with this, but I will persevere!
As for the reference, I have bought books and downloaded many photographs and basic elevations and plans from the internet. There are a lot of pictures out there if you have the patience to look. Which I seem to have, or I am having a geek moment!

Many thanks to you all.
Curt, I am aiming for the Mark IX.
I have to find the correct markings for an RAF Mark IX and also the Font used too. There are a lot of people out there that know every rivet and panel out there!
Looking forward to the challenge.

Great that's what I thought, I hope you will also make a high detail cockpit as well!
Btw, have a look here:

I've been following this guy for a few years now, lately there isn't much progress, but still a fantastic project!!!!

Thanks for the link Curt. I will concentrate on the exterior for now, but if all goes well I will model the cockpit too!
I love what he is doing there too.
The Spitfire to me is the most beautiful aircraft. An Iconic piece of design and engineering. I hope I do it justice.
It will be slow compared to most works on here, but I will concentrate on getting it right I hope.

A Small update on the model.
A few details added here and there. Strange rendering issues on a few of them on the wings, never mind that's not important at this stage.
I am having Gamma issues with my monitor, may look a bit odd on yours!
