Try http://www.pict.com/ and the post the "direct Link" URL of the image in your post with the IMAGe/IMG Tag

or simply type this in a post (replacing this URL with the one from the picture host)
Code: Select all
[img]http://www.url.image.jpg[/img]
Maxwell generally needs some time to clear up, depending on materials, render resolutions and whether or not you have MultiLight on.

Okay it seems like you have assigned some Sub Surface Scattering material to either a non waterproof object or you're intersecting this material with something OR lighting it from behind. Thats why you are getting BIG BLACK DOTS all over.

If I were you I'd go through all the materials, find out which one is using SSS and try it w/o it.
Looking at your scene now, there is nothing to see that would benefit from using SSS.

Try also to use ags glass, not normal refractive glass in the windows (or try to render with all glass hidden)

well, the problem is gone. a lot of work left to learn the program

tnx guys for helping

btw, i have some problems

-sorting the downloaded materials
first, i just unzipped everything according to filetype, that is mxm to mxm, ior and so on, but files from differnt materials just had the bad habit to have similar names , so they got overwritten

so I began to sort by cathegory, and to unpack each material in his own directory. damn cumbersome. and some materials still do not work.

-at times when I try a new downloaded material, maxwell render woudn't find it, returning an error message like unknown path kinda T:\.... and halting
is there a way to go round the problem?

It's better as soon as you download a material, double click the mxm file so it opens in MXED, and if you get any missing textures error, point to the new paths for the textures. Then press the save & close button (little disquette icon) so the mxm is saved with the new paths. Reopen it again in MXED to make sure you're not getting any errors anymore. Now it's safe to use it in your scenes.

another question

we mostly work w acad/adt in our office, but we have sketchup, max and now archicad . (even microstation, but the interface is too far away for me to learn it)

so for the three mentioned, which one integrates w maxwell in the best way, least prone to bugs, which path to go?

tnx in advance

Definitely Max! Great plugin, you can do most anything from the plugin and don't have to use Studio.

Brian, tnx
I'm new to max too, so I do the geometry in acad, and then link it to max. I have to learn max too. but have 2 problems with max/maxwell (surely more than2), that is maxwell does not accept native max lights, so I have to fake them in acad, with no obvious control, and that when i send something to maxwell to render from max, as soon a material is unknonw, maxwell render aborts the process, instead of continuing, with just a warning.

Is it possible to go round these shortcomings?

regards

i had to screw up the iso to 1600 and shutter 1 sec in order to see anything
as lightsources placed a grid of emitting , no serius try to model lamps, and had not a electrical engineer in the project yet

link, 2 picture, one with the parameters
