Officespace - questions about lightning

Hi All!

My recent project I'm working on is a office-space at about xxx x xxx meters and approx 200 working spaces with table, chair, monitors, keyboards, storage etc.

I'm pretty much done with the model, and I'm going to set light in this scene.
For a start I just place 10x100cm large emitters above each workspace.

I also place rectangular emitters in the corridors.

Though I think that the lightning gets pretty flat and dull...
Also it always looks like if the lights close to the camera is off, but far away in the scene I can see them clearly.

I'm hiding the emitters from camera, reflection/refraction and GI.

Unfortunately I cant show you anything, its pretty secret atm :/

Regards Patrik

.

Why would you do that?

Because I don't want them to be visible in the image?
Its not armatures, just plain emitters...

Since you already accepted the compromise of using "fake" emitters i would go all down the hill and place some ghost emitters on walls, rather than on ceiling. To my personal taste, light coming from above only, usually gives that "chirurgical" look (i fear this term could be another thing like "cactuses" for Bubbaloo  ) that maybe is the one you are dealing with.

:D

I can see having fill lights as hidden emitters, but if your ceiling lights are hidden, the viewer won't know where the light is coming from. Sorry, if I am misunderstanding.
1. You have light fixtures modeled, right?
2. You have hidden plane emitters, emitting light for these fixtures?

On the subject of "cacti" maybe we should also discuss "lightning". Hopefully there will be no lightning inside your structure. Very dangerous working conditions! :P Just giving you a hard time.

No, I dont have any light fixtures yet... I havnt got that input from the customer yet, so atm its just the emitter shapes in the roof.

Im, afraid that I cant show any pictures of this scene :(
But I'll post it today..
I'll do some test with the real light fixtures today, to see if it does anything for the scene...
