The wonderful complexities of life...

Inspired by jotero's math models I am attempting a nautilus shell by hand...it's beyond my limited capabilities to find a mathmatical solution with in my software so it's a slow one section at a time built...it's about driving me nuts! But the vision of a rendered shell with proper sss pushes me on. This is what I have so far.

Any and all suggestions will be gratefully received.

Overall shell.

Shell sliced in half.

Test section with chambers.

The edges and borders will have to be connected as well as giving thickness to the outside shell to make the connection to the chambers.
As a modeling exercise it's a difficult but fun project.

Thanks much...Ron

KurtS,
Lightwave..none of the multiply functions work quite right for placing the chambers as the size as well as the spacing progresses through the spiral. There is 'rail clone' which I keep trying but without success. Perhaps a script could be written...maybe I can talk my son the super programmer into trying.

Cheers, Ron
