Part o my job is to do 3d/volumetric builds of clients from ct/mri scans...
Here is quick test w new SSS
I HAve NEver used maxwell old sss.. never had time to play/tweek it but now seeing the post and the great preset that the new sss comes w/ its finally exciting to use sss.. renders still noisy.. but just tests for what will be hopefully a new workflow (additional step) to doign 3d reconstructions of peoples anatomy on our animations/graphics.. (unfortuantly this CT data set is only scaned fromthe eyes up -to check the skull/brian for damage-the doctors doingthe scan almost never acctually scan the whole head- but we get/request new scans sometime w whole head)

here is what some of the 3d raw data looks like before importing to maya and maxwell render- ill try to update this wip as I get time - I do have a few ideas on what to do to make it look better -and textured- im excited hopefully it will turn out looking good-

I was looking at your image and remember other people discussing skin on people (was it in this forum that had the wip about flesh and bones?) and thinking why so many renders of the human body look wrong. a good amount of renders look like the are solid flesh and no bones (kind of cartoon like). Maybe I spend to much time inside but my skin is some what translucent. I would love to see a render that had what you are doing in your image with muscle and veins and the skin laying on top of all of it. any way I like it. it's kind of creepy.

yep i agree and ill try to add layers to work like this.. i have some mri data on some of these anatomy cases but its a pain in the ass to get the skin sepret fromthe muscle.. and bigveins really only show up well in the brain- but ill see what i can add..
