you need all the good luck wishes you can get if you're ever gonna finish that piece of thingy Will, it looks close to impossible.
Couldn't you find a more difficult piece of mechanical thingy to model ?

I wish i never posted this now - was going to delete it but you all replied too quick. Anyway i started modelling in Solidworks but i reckon i might need to learn and use Modo for some parts. Maybe i'll not try and recreate the exact textures/i.e. exactly where the scratches are but something pretty close.
The model isn't quite right at the moment anyway - need to put it into Maxwell to see how the camera displays it to start with i think.

Mike Verta had some great metal tests in the past, part of his artoo model.
