School Interior

A work in progress of a school interior. I'm not really liking the floor. I'm trying to find a better flagstone texture, but am not having much luck.

Also, I'm having a hard time getting the light emitters to clear up. This image reached 16.36 after 16 or so hours on a Mac 8-Core. The full resolution is 1600 x 2000.

have you tried the arroway textures? they have tiles one that look like a good starting point...

Are you sure you have the correct scene scale? The lighting looks a bit strange.

Bjorn,
Thanks for the link. I'll look into it.

Mihai,
I thought the same thing. It doesn't have the "Maxwell Look". I have no clue about scene scale. Where would I find that setting.

Import the mxs into Studio and you can see in the bottom right corner of the viewport, the scale indication of the grid lines (the space between two thick gridlines). You can use this to check how big your model is, for example from the top view, wireframe mode.

I finally got around to updating this model. Still having some trouble with noise, but I'm much happier with the results than before.

Coming along nicely. The brick texture doesn't look that good though - seems 'flat, overscaled and isn't wrapping around some corners correctly.

That's looking a lot better!

Looking a lot better Dan...
Where are the 3D people from? They're fairly convincing when not too close or not looking at the camera, like the one "zombie-boy" in the first image :)

Now that was funny! Actually made me laugh out loud when I looked at him again. I didn't notice it the first time I looked. But yeah, I would turn him away a bit...

Yeah, he's a little zombie-ish...needs to get out more. He must be the computer nerd of the bunch...a future Maxwell user perhaps? I got the kids from http://www.axyz-design.com. It's really hard to find pre-posed 3D models of elementary school children. This was really the only place I could find them.

I'm still a little frustrated with the stone wall texture, although it's way better than before. I was battling formZ to get the texture to look good around the corners...it's still not right. I didn't bother modeling a "ragged" corner, perhaps I should have. The texture was created from an actual mock-up, so I'm pretty sure the size is right on.

Thanks for the feedback.

Looks great!

Though I would personally take away the humans.

Yes, annihilate the humans... Replace them with ROBOTS.
The humans shall be assimilated.
:)
