sure it´s not "mag musicians" part 4 ?
(question above can also be seen as kind of criticism

)
the image itself is well done.
maybe the logo itself could be a little bit more in contrast to the background.
(i would say brighten it up. use more light on the logo without lighten up the ground - if this is possible)
hope this is of help

Looking good so far. I agree that it doesn't necessarily read as mag4, but it may not be your decision to adjust it.
In any case, more definition/contrast overall is needed, but in particular it would help to do something to pop the frame off the background and brighten the reds to make sure it's all legible and eye-catching in the right places. RIght now the eye is drawn to the hotspot on the background.
Nice treatment so far though.

Aesthetically the logo is clean and nice. But it isn't memorable or unique to mag4musicians beyond the text. I would recommend that there be some connection between the graphics and the spirit of the magazine itself.
When I make a logo I make sure that it can be reproduced/translated in different mediums and sizes with consistency, which means vector format and some spot colors. Not to say that yours isn't simply a fancy version of a simpler foundation if you get rid of the glass and 3d tilt, but that could be presented simultaneously. I think the saying goes that if it looks good as a postage stamp, it will look good as a billboard.
See
http://www.typophile.com/files/mother_6728.jpg for a logotype that incorporates the spirit of the magazine. Other academic references include the FedEx logo for its clever whitespace arrow between E and x.

Nice so far. Isn't that the 'M' from Mixmag and Men & Motors though?
