Hello guys,
a coffee cup using only weightmap to describe color. It's easier this way to quickly change color.
I've got some problem with HDRI reflection in the gold parts.

Please give me your feedback. Thank you.

Very nice material setup. I see no problem with the gold parts. What was it?

Fantastic. I think the gold parts look good!

thank you. How funny it is to create materials with maxwell.

@herve : I run a render with your advice. Post it soon.

For the HDR reflection in the triangle in the top of the cup they seem to be stretched. No ?

yep beyond the realism the colors are lovely - very cool the weightmap system

Hi roch_fr,
your technique looks very interesting. Could you imagine posting a (simpler) mxm file, showing your setup in principle. I could not fully figure out, how the colour map looks in what weight map has what effect. That would be very kind!

i am trying to explain for waht i have undestood...
every color, or material has his own layer and its black and white weightmap in which black let the material in that layer appears (black=no mask) and white instead mask the material...
obviously the black part of, let say red layer, mast no superimpose to black part of , lets say blu layer, .. unless u want the 2 colours to mix together...which is not he case

thank you all. I'm really happy that you find this way of "painting" colors interesting.

Here is a now render in additive mode (as Master Hervé suggested)
I had a little roughness on gold part.

It is on the wish list but I repeat here it would be nice if when we create a bitmap from the viewer it incorporates EXIF data.

I try this method to create color part because in a post for making colored glass juan said that if was better to use Maxwell color picker and weight map rather than color map. And I was asking myself how to take advantage of "a one day it will be available spectral color picker"

You can find the MXM and map here : www.maxwellrender.fr/biblio/tasse.rar
