New renders lower down this thread.
....meet Becky. Aiko3 donor model, reworked and posed. New Aiko textures from this February's 3DWorld mag, slotted into my current skin material.
No SSS as I'm still unable to get a good effect for skin. (Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.)
PhysSky & Sun lit:-
PhysSky & Sun lit, with HDRI reflections & refractions:-
Not happy with the hair either, as this is a Daz Studio anime hair object. If I can work a better solution I will, but I might have to go with this.
I don't have any hair apps, other than RF4's possible use.
More tomorrow,
Tim.

One more thing... are you sure you are applying correctly the transmission maps? The tip of the hair mainly on the first image seems to have no transmission maps at all.

Nice one Mark. I have a few of his hair sets already, thanks for the reminder, totally forgot I have some of them installed already.
New update tomorrow.

Unfortunatly, the current version of SSS does not work correctly with Poser/Daz figures:
I'm guessing it because the figures have holes in their geometry, so they aren't treated as a solid object. This is one of the reasons why we need a Fake SSS that can be controlled via a bitmap. It's also needed for objects like cloth (such as curtains for example), or leaves on a tree.

Cheers Pierre.
deadalvs, maybe once the materials are good enough.
Raph, thanks for sharing mate.

I'll check out your material today. Sweet render too.
Cheers Tom.
Michael, this is why I import into Blender from Daz or Poser. I join all the mesh objects that share the same UV map and weld the neccesary verts, to make the mesh closed.
Capping the eye holes behind the eyeballs as well, will help sss to work correctly. I just don't know the correct Absorption & Scatter values for skin.
Herve, it is done.
Tweaked bump map:-

Hair tests:-
Long hair Evolution:-

Kyoko Hair MK II

Kyoko Hair MK III
I've a couple more Poser hair types to try and I need to tweak the mesh some more. I've still to sort out a water film around the eyeball edges.
More tomorrow.
Tim.

SSS tests:-
SSS test for incomplete mesh objects and intersections:-

Left and center spheres have my skin variants, with the skin3 mxm on the right for comparison. (Skin3 mxm is available from the mxm gallery.)

My final skin on all three spheres, to show different lighting effect on the skin.

Hand tests, colour texture map has some errors I need to fix.

Head test. This is a closed object, but there are some mesh intersections.

Last skin tweaks in studio lighting enviroment. Multilight renders:-

Final skin material. Reduced bump map slightly. SL15.
Tim.
