the master is back! nice to see your inspiring work back here.
just out of curiosity, it is the fog material somehow similar to the
cloud material shared by tom in the mxmgallery?

Thanks jdp! It's good to be able to do some rendering again - I've been going into withrawl!
I haven't even had a chance yet to explore the mxm gallery. I'll have to download that material and try it out myself.

I just checked out the cloud mxm, and it's more of a surface effect, as opposed to a volume effect. I've tried to use a weighted, dual bsdf material before, and there are many problems associated with it when you have several objects layered one behind the other. The cloud material won't really work like a volume fog, though It'll work fine for clouds as long as you don't stack the geometry.

can't say I really like that cat there, that it's just me, but these two images are really beautiful. especially the second one.
