'use instance' option crashes mxcl through max plugin

using the 'use instance' option crashes my scene. usually removing the last piece of geometry I've built sometimes helps. emitters won't seem to work with them on.

if I uncheck 'use instancing' the render goes through and all emitters are on but performance takes a big hit (which is to be expected).

is there an instancing glitch?

Instanced emitters are not supported in MXCL yet. Do you get the crash in scenes which do not contain instanced emitters?

didn't realize that about instance emitters. I'll make them unique and give it another go. Thanks Mihnea.
