Download and install one of the following redistributable, depending on your system:
32-bit package.
64-bit package.

Guys, what OS do you have? (x32/x64)
This doesn't seem to be a Maxwell problem, since we have users that run VIZ 2008 without a problem, and I'm one of them. So, after some google search, it seems that having Max9 installed on the same system with VIZ 2008, fixes the problem.
luid, you said that on Max it works. Which version of Max? Is it installed on the same computer as VIZ 2008?

I have windows XP Home SP2 32bit.
I have instaled service pack 1 to my VIZ 2006
I have googled for error 126 but any solutions failed.
Viz 2006 is the same as 3dmax 7.0

ludi, could you try to install a trial version of Max2008 on the same machine as VIZ 2008 and start it at least once?
zdeno, the same thing for you, but using Max7.
If it works, you can uninstall the max version you've installed.

You have to use the MAX 9 installation path to get it working for VIZ 2008...

Hi!
I installed 3dmax 7.0 on the same machine as VIZ 2006.
It didn't work.
Later I tried to switch some .dll's , reset 3dviz.ini and many other things.
I used dependency walker to see needed files.
I am stuck . PLugin 1.6.6 works just fine but 1.6.10 does not.
while googling internet I saw sometimes users have error 126 when they instaled service pack to Viz/Max. Mayby there is solutions, but why 1.6.6 working?

Just curious, have you tried 1.6.10 in Max7 on the same VIZ 2006 machine?

of course ... it works just fine with 3dmax 7.0
i suspect service pack did it. I will have to reinstall Viz without service pack in free time and check again.
but mayby plugin 1.6.10 is not so big improvement ? to strugle with all this ?

It's your decision if it's time for an update. Check here the list of changes:

With Vista's new SP1, the updated Max plugin doesn't work. Next Limit, please test your plugin with SP1, and update it accordingly. We should not have to install a trial of Max to get it working with VIZ!
Thanks,
Angelo
