crash: dragging maps

very minor 'workaroundable bug':
when i drag a map in built-in material editor in max2008 (eg: a jpg from reflectance 0 to reflectance 90 slot, or from another slot in material editor) it often crashes. (frequency is about 1 on 8 times)

ps: i use max2008 + mr1.6 + winxp64

Do you copy/instance/swap?

LE: After each crash you should have a file named 3dsmax_minidump.dmp in your %temp% directory. I need that file.

it happens doing copy or instance.
doing swapping never crashed, but i rarely use swap feature.

i attach minidump file when it will crash again.

thanks

ciao Bogdan, sorry for long time of my reply (i had to use maya for and old old old project in this period.... :( ).

here minidump file.-->
http://www.lucafrizzarin.com/maxwell/3d ... nidump.zip

3dsmax 2008 crashed when i dragged map (a.jpg file) from maxwell material (the material was AGS glass) to another map slot (not empty, there was an unused map in the slot). It crashed BEFORE asking me copy/inst/swap.

thanks
ciao,
Luca

From the minidump file it looks like it crashed trying to make references to that texture. Unfortunately the crash stack is full of 3dsmax's core functions and no Maxwell information. To dig if further I'll need a scene file. Also, do you remember doing something special to that material? Changing more than one material from the Material Wizard? Added and deleted layers? Or it was a newly created Maxwell material with a new AGS material assigned?

i did some tests: 3dsmax often crashes when i drag a map from a maxwell slot (e.g. a jpg file used in roughness slot) into a new empty material slot (dragging the map in this way you know you are going to display/extract only the "flat" map in material slot).

this never happens when i'm at the begin of 3d scene, but after some some good work on it.

now i can't send the max file: it is a project for a public structure, and i'm under "professional secret". when i'll have a max-sendable-file-project i'll send you entire scene.

thanks
ciao
