motion blur working?

Hey all -

First time I've tried to get motion blur working with Maxwell. Is it working okay in 1.5 with the Max plugin?

I've tried just turning on object m-blur in the object properties (only one object in the scene has any movement) and turning on "global motion blur" in the render tab, but in both cases I just get an incredibly slow voxelization process that appears to just cack out around 30-40% of the way (I only waited so long before cancelling the render).

With no motion blur on voxelization takes about 2 seconds (it's a small test scene). My shutterspeed is set to around 1, so it should be plenty slow enough.

Is it normal to have super slow voxelization with m-blur?

Is it better or necessary to use the "global" option in the render tab, or is it just necessary to turn it on in the object properties?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Motion Blur (object and global) is not working properly due to a SDK problem. In most cases will crash 3dsmax. Remaining cases will cause a crash or a slow voxelization in mxcl.

There are two ways of using (when will work) motion blur:
- Global (enables motion blur on all scene objects).
- Per Object (enabled motion blur on the specified object).
So, your question - regarding the better or a necessary way - depends on what you're trying to do.

Thanks Bogdan - appreciate the quick answer. I see the new plugin was released today, but does it address this issue?

Thanks

Hi.

As mentioned in the list of changes, motion blur is disabled in this build. There is a problem with motion blur in the 1.5 render engine and until a patch can be released we have disabled support for it in the plug-ins.

It is normal for voxelization to take longer when motion blur is enabled, it has more work to do. It will still be like that after a patched MXCL is released, but the dramatic slowdown you're seeing is probably due to the bug.

Before you ask, I don't have an ETA for the render engine patch, sorry.

Cool - sorry, I guess I missed that note in the release announcement.

(I wasn't going to ask. It'll be here when it's done, I get it.)

Thanks.
