When I load a MXS sequence and specify a frame range my animation fails however if I take one of the MXS files and render it out as a single image over the network it works fine. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

What do you mean by "it fails"? Could you please give us more details?

does the second mxs in the render queue fail ?
that would be exactly as in cooperative mode on our network...

I mean when I submit the job with a frame range it fails on every single frame, if I submit the same job as a single image it renders.

I have some similiar problem here.
3D max crashes every time i choose to render an animation, but if i select one of its frame and render it alone, it goes well.
Please NL we need some advise on this because rendering lots of frames manually is sacrifice.

Juan got back with me and said that the reason my animations were failing was because I was saving the output images with number sequences instead of giving them an alphabetical name. I haven't tested this because I had to go back to V1.1 in order to be able to render out my animation after loosing a week trying to figure out this problem. I hope this helps you.

I also found that Network Rendering would crash on rendering a frame range if the output files already existed. It seamed to have trouble over writing existing images because after I deleted out those files it worked.
Correction: It worked once, but today I had the same problem and tried the same solution and it didn't work.
