okay i downloaded and installed latest 1.5 with 3Dsmax plugin.
For me it doesnt resolve anything about large scenes. I can't even export a scene with 2million polys on my 2giga ram PC. i had same prob in previous releases and i though this time NL would solve it without having to buy 8giga ram.
For all i read in several thread dedicated to the *RS1.5* i think it is just a beta yet

I haven't tried the new version yet as I have to finish some projects first, but I'm wondering maybe you are having problems with max instead of maxwell? If it crashes when exporting that probably is a max's problem, not maxwell's. If mxcl crashes, then it's maxwell's.
You should try first:
- increase virtual memory to something about double your RAM (it is usually 2GB by default);
- change to max 64 bits (that indeed works).
Good luck.

I can't change my hardware so i won't go to MAX64bits, anyway i've formatted the computer lot of time and reinstalled everything properly and stuffs... it is always the same prob.
I can render scenes over 2millions poly with other render engines on a p4-2ghz with 512 ram. I don't see why my comp crashes when i'm trying to export mxs files.

Dear Hys,
As we explain in the documentation, 512 Mb is the minimum recommended to work with Maxwell, but it is far away from the amount of memory recommended, and it might cause crashes with large scenes. It is not needed to move to 64bits but just adding a bit more RAM. You can try to use virtual memory instead as Fernando says but the behavior depends totally on the operative system and in windows it use to be bad.
Kind regards,
Juan

as i said i don't use a 512mb system, i'm using 2giga ram system and i can't lauch a mxs export of scenes above 2megapolys.
as i said before, i don't know why i should buy more ram or swtich to 64bits since other render engines far worse than mxm, could render 2gigapolys scenes with a 512mb system.

Hello Hys,
we're looking at your query.
In the meantime, could you please kindly modify the title of the thread to be more descriptive to other users?
thank you very much

Something else to take in account is the size of your texture maps which may increase memory usage a lot.
With previous version of maxwell, 3dsmax 8 (32 bits), 4GBs of RAM and xp64 I've been able to render up to 15 million polys with a couple of textures (take a look at the "Breaking barriers section").
Check your memory usage when launching the render to see if it is fully used at crash moment.
Good luck.

1* when i'm doing over 2megapoly scenes, i'm gentle with loading textures so np at this point so far.
2*yes when the mxcl exports and crash my 3dsmax, the memory is fully loaded.

Hys, I 'm not sure that it is the PolyCount that brings the renderer down.
are you rendering mutilights? If so, how many channels and what image size?
Cheers

I am having this same problem with my mac minies that have 2Gigs of ram and run windows XP w/3gig switch(just in case) and with one of my workstations that is a dual Xeon3.02 with 4gigs and windows Vista with 3gig switch also enabled. Render crashes and therefor it is almost imposible to do a cooperative render on a complicated scene. I have been testing 1.5 with a 1million ply kitchen (not that large) and get the issue. Lets also remember that 32 OS only support 4gigs.,

Kabe:
i've been using MX of a while dude, i surely know what things could overload rendering process or not. When i'm saying it crashes for nothing, i know what i'm saying.
I'm sure i'm not the one loving mx but don't have last gen computer so please stop looking for the answer of my problem elsewhere than i'm saying it is thx.
