Been M.I.A. for a while. Looks like plugin has improved.

This plugin has definitely come a long way since I last looked at it about a year and change ago. The materials show up in the max material editor, I can see textures in the viewports, and more. This is actually usable for me again (just like the beloved beta was many moons ago).
Of course, I've only played with it just now for about an hour so I'm sure there's stuff that I'll discover are problematic.
Good to be back.

P.S. How's next limit doing? Communicating better?

I too have been away (pretty much from 3d in general - got a bit "burned out" there but back now)
A few questions - 1. can Maxwell render from within max - as in a proper production render - or do you need to switch out to studio? (the studio step has always put me off a little) and 2 how do you get a camera up with DOF in the 1.5 release - forgive me if these are boneheaded questions.
Many thanks

Well Maxwell doesn’t render within max the engine is a separate program that runs outside of max but the plugin makes that a seamless transition. DOF is an automatic function it only depends on where you put your camera target and what your F-Stop and Shutter speed is.

Can we access all the features of studio from the internal max renderer dialogue (where for example is a maxwell camera in 3d studio).
Thanks a million

Just use the 3d studio camera, all the setting iso shutter speed etc are in the cameras modifer panel

The old Maxwell Camera is not used anymore. You can use a default Max camera. After you place a camera in your scene, all maxwell properties are applied to it, in form of a roll-up named "Maxwell Parameters". You can find this roll-up, by clicking on the Modify tab. It should be under "Depth of Field Parameters" roll-up.
