i'm running Maxwell 1.1 on XP 64 , 3DSMAX9 64 bits..with latest plugin.

I cannot put a any "standart" image file in background (jpg, bmp...). Even with a simple scene, a cube on a box by example.

MAx returns me this error :

Image

And render is overburned , try to change tone mapping values..same results :(.

I tryed to use HRDI, seems to work..but don't want HRDI background..just a normal map
Maybe MXI is the solution , but does MXI illuminate the scene too ?

Thanks for ur answer.

Maxwell only recognizes HDR or MXI files for background images. So, all you have to do is convert your jpg to MXI, and just use it in the 'Background' slot. The Max plugin allows you to use (or not use) HDR/MXI's separately for Background, Illumination, Reflection, and Refraction.

If you use the MXI in just the background slot, it won't provide any illumination.
