Strange behaviour and then a crash!

I have a scene that was rendered with Vray. There are some params that Maxwell doesn't understand or need. I had vray lights, camera, a background image for the env. map, and of course the materials.
I disabled everything and erased the lights and left the materials last.
I started to change the materials. MAX crashed when I was choosing the MXM file for the 3rd or 4th material. After that, I haven't been able to restart the scene, everytime I get an error message while loading the scene and MAX crashes again.
Has this happened before? I don't have the scene anymore but I think it had something to do with the material I wanted to use for the particular objects.
So, my question is : Has someone met before MXM files that cause troubles and crashes?

Shure, I had a scene that I tried to convert from Vray too. Same problems. It was just a hobby project so I gave up.

I suppose when the developers come out of their present hiding it makes sense to send them these type of files for debugging.

i've had many many problems with converting vray scenes to maxwell, and there was almost always a certain problem which took forever to discover... On many occasions I had to merge certain scenes object by object to find out what was causing the crash. Other times, some scenes would load up normally, and some minuters later when I tried to reload them they would crash. so, I am stuck with vray for the moment...
