maybe the path isn't valid!
I can see a mixture of slash's and slosh's there, is that the problem?

you have to type in also the extension, *.jpg or .tif or whtever you want, it will save it correctly then

yes , write de extension and be sure that on system on max , before render , the name of mxs and tga is not the same .
if you save the mxs like prove.mxs , dont save the image like prove.tga ,
put another name , like imageprove.tga .

Not sure it this was a typo when you posted the message here, but the last slash in your image path is going the wrong direction....
