Textures

I posted this in the 3dmax forum but no one is hanging out there and I wanted to ask if it was a general problem. I'm using 3dsmax with the plugin and textures aren't being transferred into the mxs. is anyone else experiencing this?
thanks.

I have no problem with textures here.
Explain yourself better.... What happens?? The mxs file contains no data about uvw mapping ??

Any texture that I have mapped in 3dsmax with a maxwell material, when maxwell render opens and begins rendering, the texture is not appearing in the render. This one is baffling me, and it's happening on multiple scenes I'm trying to render.

) reason!

Color/and sometime Specular mapped in traditional maxwell materials don“t show maps in render. I recommend use MXM materials in 3d studio max plugin.

I ran in to this with the beta too, very eratic also. A single scene would work fine for a week, then stop. I never did recieve any help, the only work around I found was to load the file in studio and check out the material list. In mine, the bad ones had what looked like system generated names (numbers and letters). Then just deleted the materials their and re-assigned them. I tried doing to same thing in Cinema, but it seems that once the file is corrupt, it is always corrupt. And unfortunately, there is no backwards workflow, it's a one way trip ...
I was hoping this was fixed, maybe in to 1.0 release of the Cinema plugin?

nice to see you around again.
Thanks for the tip--ill give it a try tonight. I should have specified that, I was using the diffuse and plastic materials and this was giving me a problem. Ill try MXM.

has anyone got Textures to work with UV maps yet? Is there some special way to do it?

My UV maps were exporting with the plugin in 3dsmax, it's just the image wasn't showing. When i fixed the texture, the mapping was there just as I aligned it in 3dsMax.

Did you use an MXM or the regular materials?

Diffuse and Plastic materials. I have yet to test the MXM like Mane was suggesting. I have to work with those and the new metals tonight--not enough time yesterday.

In Max, I have a texture problem with the plastic shader. The maps and mapping is exported but the textures don't appear in the rendering. When I open the file in studio, the materials are created properly, but they render without textures in teh rendering and the material editor.
If I build a new material in studio then it renders ok.
diffuse seems to be ok.
metal, I cannot assign a map to the colour slot.

Yep, in a sad way I'm glad someone else is having this exact problem.

it's a minor incomvienience. I would build my materials in the editor or studio anyway, since the editor in Max is so limited.
Everythign else is working so far that I've tested. And it's fast! lets try a heavy scene!
