The Maxwell Max plugin allows you to generate mxs files (Maxwell scene files) directly from Max. When you choose Maxwell as renderer and click render, it generates the mxs file, and also if you want it can start rendering right away.

The workflow I'd suggest though is just to generate the mxs file, open that in Studio and start tweaking the materials there, then rendering.

Check that your scene scale is correct and also if you have any UV mapped objects in Max, give these objects first a Maxwell material and make sure you add a bitmap to the color slot, before generating the mxs file. If you don't the uv info will not be transferred to the mxs file.
