Bump maps in RC5?

Just started playing with RC5. Maybe I am missing something but I can't get bump maps to work when rendering with the plugin - colormaps work OK. I have tried low to high bump settings. The bump maps work in studio.

Hi Greg,

It works for me, so keep trying or even post a sample scene. I can't think of any advice for you, except are you using the newest plugin? are all you mapping channels present on the object? is the little checkbox next to the bitmap in the material checked?

Cheers,

J.

Here is a simple example of the bump map problem:

I see what you mean.

Maxwell plastic materials are made up of two BSDF layers. Your bump map is being applied to the top layer, which is the lambertian (diffuse) layer. The glossy layer (causing the highlights) doesn't have the bump map applied.
I don't know how to get around this problem in Max, if you render through studio you will have better success. Normally I would say export a MXM and use that in Max but there seems to be a mapping bug in the max MXM material.

J - thanks for the reply. I ended up working in Maxwell Studio to finish the render. Looks nice but it is a major PITA working this way. Here is a 100% crop of the from the render showing how I used the bump maps.
