Sure thing, i'd like to give it a twirl with the Rhino plugin if it's ok with you.

I can give it a try too...
Is it 1 hour for setup or 1 hour for "setup and render?"
either way I see no problem.

Ok here's my test of the object, but honestly i think my result sucks bigtime. No matter what i did i just couldn't get it right. I hope someone else have better luck than me with this one.
Scene info
Render time: 1 hour 2 minutes
Sampling Level: 13,11
Lights: 3 + SkyDome @ intensity 15 and at RGB: 183, 194, 200
Emitters: 1 (D65 34W), 2 (Cool White 12W), 3 (D65 28W)
Textures used: Two bitmapped custom made perlin noise maps, two for the cable and the connector + one of those on the floor as a specular map.
I spent 2 hours on this including 1 hour of rendering the scene. And i know that's past the timelimit but i chose to do it like that anyways. The setup time for the different things such as materials were rather quick, the lights took like 20 min to get right and then a few small testrenderings to see that the approx materials and lights looked about right.
However there was no way i could control the level of specularity on my maps so it's overly bright and almost overexposed. Please also excuse the lowres noisemap appearing pixelated on the floor. But i was in a hurry

Post your file in
www.rapidshare.de
This way more people could help and you don't have to send it to each one individually.
I might give it a stub, but I am on a deadline for a client this week.

I set up the render just now, 15 mins setup time, i'll leave it to render for about 5 hours and see how far we can get.

One of the bad things about Rhino is = "no UV mapping"
This is my first try with no textures (Only floor)
A little under 8min Materials and camera setup. + 1/2 a second light setup. (Turn on "physical sky" and "sun" - nothing else)
Hit render... few seconds later I got to see the little preview. Stop Render and adjust some of materials plus increase the camera's apperture from 8 to 11 and hit render again.
1 hour and 2 seconds later

Well ........here's my attempt.
It's a simple studio setup --infinte bowl with a ring light above and off center of target. .....few minutes.
It's a bit stylized, but alas .....that's what i do. If i had to do it again, i'd adjust sharpness(f-stop). One other note, the cord is not quite as black as i'd of liked. ......is what it is.

......chris.
All basic Maxwell shaders ---- ground plane is a map.
[1h 11m 46s] of [33h 20m 0s] , current sampling level : 13.22
dual Athlon 2400MP+ (MSI K7D) 2GB Ram
special note: this was rendered simultaneously while 2 others were also in the oven. (total 3).
