Intersting enough to post here.. someone wanted to know how to achieve a light bulb that glows.... simple now...

I did not know the real use of scattering, because on a soap it is not evident... anyway, I understand things very fast, but you have to explain to me for a long time...

I am thinking "some" Maxwell users are maybe like me...

Interesting method you used there Hervé. And i especially like the 3rd example rendering you done, it looks goody! :)

Nice work!

yes Max Thanks... indeed I did not know you could scatter the light inside an SSS object... the 3rd is the most correct I thinK.....

 I don't understand, how you get the volume fog effect. :? Is there a new maxwell, are you final version tester?

i wonder too what this glow has to do with scattering?

Micha, KRZ, I have Maxwell 2.0 here, which can do realtime fog..... nahh... just joking... try it yourself... this is the purpose of my tests... I was very susrprised.... and it render pretty fast too...

Too bad Tom did not say anything 'bout it... well I guess he busy testing Maxwell 1.0...

Hmmm, I have build an emitter cylinder with diffuse+sss material around and a plane in the background, but I don't see the fog. What is the trick? On which effect is the glow based? :?

You haved used the old alpha?

Hervé, is your scene actually inside a cube which has an sss material applied to it? Otherwise this effect is very strange and might even indicate a bug....

he no Mihai, no cube around here... just a floor... the painting , the lamp (with an tube emitter inside), oh and it is grey backgground because I activated skydome at 0,3 if I remember correctly...

but I found it to be a nice fx, and it render pretty fast too, I mean with the fx (scatter higher than 0) or without (scatter at 0)....

what do you think... usually it does not appear, only if the light is close from the sss'ed polygons, and in this case it was, I mean the small tube emitter I placed inside is about 1/4 the size of the translucent actual sss'ed tube....

what do U think...

Tom, could you elaborate on this a tiny bit....
