What you can do is: first you render an noisy image with SSS and than you build a texture that looks like in your image for the MXI emitter. So you could get both, a real look and a short rendertime.

I mean, a good workflow could be to render with SSS a small, noisy image to evaluate the light and than to use a MXI texture.
