All questions about the maya 7 plugin is just thrown away without any answer at all. Why not make that "enormous" sacrifice and tell us about the lates information viable??

Or if thats too much to ask please select one option of the following ones.

1. The plugin will be viable by the end of this week
2. The plugin will be released with the Final ver. 1 by the end of oct.
3. There is no plans on getting maya 7 a solid ground for maxwell
4. Whenever we feel like it...

Also - please tell us that Maya's latest plug-in will have all the dielectric mapping options that Max has (i.e. color, bump, spec)

also a scaling option would be nice as well!

might as well speak up - who knows, maybe they're listening!

As far as i understand it they have to recompile all plugins again for the new updated big 3d programs that came out after Siggraph now. That includes 3dsmax, Maya, Cinema4D, XSI and perhaps some other i forgot now. So that they push those updates ahead forward a bit isn't really that surprising to me. They need the new versions of those programs to test them on, and they need the new SDK's to each of these programs ofcourse.

This would explain the obviously long delayed updates of the major 3d programs plugins now, they were waiting for the updates and SDK's to be avaiable :) it all seems so logical now.

Thanks Bill for adding the shipping date of Maya, i totally forgot that info :) but yeah you're right the SDK has also been out for a month. And under normal circumstances a new updated plugin would be out by now, but i don't count this as normal developement and then i don't expect a plugin to be out now this soon after Maya 7 shipped either.

I still tho think 1 month is a short time when it comes to developement like this and i'll do a wild uneducated guess that NL will eventually release all updated plugins at once to make all happy :) but it's too early to tell right now and guessing like i do now isn't wise to do so i'll stop that.

Yeah ok lets play with the thought, they are waiting for the SDK´s, or one of the maxwell team fellas falled ill after a mosquito bite deep inside the Amazonas jungle. That might be the case, not most certain but anyway, why cant there be a statment that makes us very much aware of the situation thats truly going on?

Usually recompilation is necessary even tho the changes are minor in a update, just to wash out bugs and troubles that could surface otherwise. But NL knows this already as they been developing software for years.

Here's another wild guess.. :) while they're waiting for the SDK's and updated software to arrive they're coding on the main core, optimizing and adding features and optimizing again and working on the standalone editor with the materialseditor ofcourse. Again i say, these are all wild guesses from my side but somehow i feel they make sense now.

ludenhud: A statement wouldn't be bad at all, if the case is that they're working as i guessed about the new SDK's for the newly updated software. But it's up to them, not me i'm just a regular computer graphics geek.

whiskey: Hehehe, you and your CosmicBlobs :P you're funny!

well, yes. victor, or oscar, i can't remember, said that maxwell and the plugins are developed by two different groups of people. in fact the rhino plugin is going to be updated soon:

Mm.. yep that sounds right rivoli, using independent developers speeds up the work and allows them to focus more brainpower on the core itself. It's a clever move from a strategic point of view :)

I read those good news about Rhino getting another update too, and nice fixes and updates to it aswell :) sounds promising. Also Rhino haven't had a major update that requires a recompile of the plugin yet, not until 4.0 is out which is still far away if i remember correctly.

But now i don't wanna ramble on anymore in this thread and make it another one of those neverending threads which there are too many of on here already :(
