... a good way to kill the noise and to keep details/textures is to render the image in double size, denoise it and downscale it to 50%.

i agree, but it was going good under Alpha, with low Quality.
Now with Beta, it doesn't kill so much noise, and... do you plan to render all your scenes at double resolution? :lol:

... at the moment I do my renderings at night in approx. 8... 10h in double resolution (approx. 1 Mega Pixel), because I have the time. So, I get my images nearly full noisefree with sharp details. I don't like so much denoise without downscale, because sometimes I lost to much small details. But this is dependent from the textures and model.

In some scenes with SSS or caustic it need much time to get a high resolution at a high SL, here I'm careful with double..->denoise->down...
