lotsofpixels recently released fusionThing, a Cnema 4D plugin that parametrically creates and welds geometry based on simple meshes.
Update 16.8.05: Massive render rendered at 2K, downsampled to 1K, no further postpro except captions:

Hehe, actually this is really more stress testing and get my working procedures with Cinemaxwell up and running than "real" scenebuilding... I completely agree that a more elaborate lighting would improve the picts quite a bit
It turns out that as a rule of thumb about 2.5-5 MTris works fine with my 2.5 GB RAM and other big applications running side by side.

Well, actually, this is only one very specific use of it, you can do a lot of quite different things with it.

I love fusionThing too!
Kabe can you post a wire of your component pieces for image #1- I love the delicate lacing!

Kabe please, put an emitter inside of these, and put it in some smaller room where we can see the shadows. Or put 3 smaller emitter inside, each with a different color. Would be really nice to see how the colors blend. Would also be a nice test for other engines actually....

very very cool work

...One silly question, can the geometry be exported from cd4? obj? 3ds? (sorry not too familiar with c4d...
