Hiya!

I thought i'd show this latest personal project i'm doing, it's to celebrate this my 1000th post on the Maxwell forum :D i wanted to do something nice & pretty for once. And then i built this model, it's rather complex and i'll be rendering this with the Rhinoall plugin since i modeled this whole thing in Rhino and well it'll be to test the plugin too :)
More updates to come tomorrow with rendered scenes of it then! :P

Two updated screenshots of the webcam showing the entire scene and everything. Don't mind the swedish written on the 2nd screenshot, it's for a post i did on another forum (Animate.se) where they wanted to see the scene setup in C4D with a short descriptive text.

Cool model, you're good with the polys and the noibs :P Shouldn't the usb cable be a little longer though?

Heya again!

I'm happy you both liked my little webcam model :D

Mihai: Thanks :) i don't consider myself skilled just yet, but i'm a fast learner so things like this is easy to do even tho it's just my 2nd model with Rhino. But i'll be fixing a longer cable tomorrow, this one got cut off short due to tiredness at the end of the modeling session heh..

Adam: Thanks :) if you have a female computer then directing the webcam towards the backside of it would be a good idea :P hehe which is what this camera would be used for..

really cool modeling... Max...

BTW, are you going to triple everything before rendering..? or are we the only ones with LW that need to do that....?

Sometimes it is killing me....

Adam, I meant rendering from Rhino in Maxwell ... right..? well I hope they fix it soon for LW... we have to triple every geometry unless it is subpatch (wich is tripled by layout at render time...)

Hi again! :)

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments about my model, and i didn't wanna dissapoint you guys so here's a first testrendering of the webcam, it's kinda lowpoly in a few places but i'll fix those issues today and it'll get a longer cable too hehe (phew, still lotsa work left to do..)

MarkM: Thanks, and half of your wish is granted now ;) a untextured/unshaded testrender comes here.

Hervé: Thanks :) and nope as Adam said i don't need to tesselate it further, just render and smile like this from ear to ear :D

4Hero: Hehe thanx man :) u bet i'll render it, but here's a early testrender of it for u to have a peek at while i fix the mesh and setup the scene and shaders.

but in LW, we have to.... I hope we get this feature soon too... it explodes the polycount somtimes for nothing...

BTW, is there a problem with your render... it looks blurred... err... *cough*.... could you try another color...that on does'nt give justice to your wonderful model... me think...

Hiya!

I updated the 1st post with a new test with a bunch of Maxwell shaders and a couple of textures on it, nothing really striking but something new to look at until i found a way to make nice looking surfaces for this model. Now it looks kinda cheesy and there are some areas which i really don't like and some others which i do like.. btw this scene is now 1.23 million polygons, my little P3 has real problems working with this now :( i need a new PC now!

bader: Thanks :) it's umm.. hehe a Max Inc. production webcam. I kinda took what you said and used it in the way as you can see on the new rendering with the logotype placed in the front of the cam.

smooth: Thanks :D the basic modeling was quite simple, i thought it would be harder than it actually were, but basically i used primitives, revolved curves, extracted curves, lots and lots of booleans and path extrude and then even more booleans :) all in all i spent about 12 hours on this model including tweaking and adjusting bugs and then converting it to polygons. Keep in mind tho i'm all new to Rhino, it's just my 2nd model. Now i can't wait to build my next one, got bunches of good ideas in store..

Btw.. any tips on how to improve these materials to make them look more real and also a good lightsetup and perhaps a nice scenebackdrop to place it in ? feel free to criticize this any way you want, positive and negative :) anything is good so i can get better at this.

Max,
Didn’t catch the render image until I seen your post in another thread. Looks photo real to me.

Cheers,

My only critique is USB interface ;)
