Nothing special to say, just i still wait for the caustics from the plexi, not visible at this stage of render (6h10 13.38 samples for 1667*2000px)

thx for the link :D

So i'll try with a little floor-plane, or segment it a lot (at this moment it's only 1*1)

you're welcome.

actually if i were you i'd try a studio artificial lighting instead of the phys sky/sun one. i think it would work much better for this kind of product design shot (at least you should get caustics).

I add my specs in my signature, but it doesn't work, same problem with my avatar...

DELL DIMENSION XPS GEN5, P4, 640 (3.2GHz),HT,2MB cache,EM64T
1024MB DDR2 533 [2*512]
160GB (7200rpm) NCQ SATA Hard Drive
NVidia GeForce 6800 256 Mo PCI Express
Win XP Pro SP2

I did this model to try to reproduce great direct/indirect caustics of the boxes when hitted by sun, i can see at home.
So i'll try the plane tip, and/or will use a plane emitter in the final int scene!

i replace my big 1*1 floor with a smaller plane, and segmented it so each face is about 40*40cm (like the box), but still no caustics with sun...
It works with an emitter, like we know

This log above belongs to a previously cancelled job.
I think the crash is about CPU and not Maxwell also...
Anyway, when it crashes, the log file is not being updated ;)

Tom, pls, say to me seriously. What should be wrong with my PC. This mxcl crashes occured on mine sometimes too. I mean it really seriously. Pls if you can advice me what to check on my system, i will do so. I ask you for advice because it seems to not many users have these crashes.

def4d: like it very much. I dont mind that residual noice. What is setting of your plastic? Looks very realistic (like all Maxwell shaders) And I know your feelings. My render crahes after 56 housr last week.

if i remember well, caustics tend to appear around sample 14 or something...
