i was wondering ( since the big changes that probably final release would bring) if there would be full compatibility between final release and beta or we will have to make again all files made with beta version ( as it happened when changiong from alpha to beta).....

"change" is meaning of life, soon or later, things may change...
of course we care about decreasing negative effects of changes, don't worry...

release compatibility will be surely higher and you cannot compare with actual state.

what i hope i s not just not having to change all the materials of the scene with new ones, but not having to change the geometry itself ( exporting and importing again the files and so losing many settings) in order to make the file works ( it happened with beta)

I'll do a uneducated guess and say you have to redo all your materials and shaders for the Final release. Things will likely change alot for the Final so your current settings will be like last week's dinner.. old and bad smelling. :)

Tom...You use the pronoun "we" rather convincingly.....since you wrote in another forum.....

"I am not betatester, wake up."

who is "we"?

Like Maximus stated, It am expecting to have to reset all materials and hopefully will be able to preview what they actually are instead of the distictive black spheres we are all accustomed to with the 3D max platform.

paxreid, what will you do with the word "we"?
did you wait to post your 8th post for asking this... amazing!
yes, once i was a betatester, but now i'm not just a betatester,
this is why i reject your labeling words...
maxwell has nothing to do with the 3dsmax material editor,
it will be a standalone application and will have a material editor.

My apologies. Never meant as anything other than a question if you were hired by NL. Congratulations. You work on this forum, the Manual, the development is invaluable.

Sorry if this in now only my 9th post...........ha. Who's counting?
